20% Project, Week 3

Today for week three of the 20% project, I got lots of things done. Today I learned how to use “while” loops, lists, list methods, how to change strings, variables, and inputs to different statements. Today one of my earbuds stopped working so I could only hear a faint sound of the video. For now I just turned on subtitles. I will ask my dad for some new pairs so that will be on my reminders. Adjustments I need to make is to remember to bring my Chromebook to school so I will set another reminder on my iPad. I also have to remember to work over the weekend to finish both of the videos and to finish and polish the game in time. Next week I will finish the second video that’s showing me more advanced programming techniques and ways to create a game. Once I’m done with the two videos I will start creating a game.

Room From Heaven

My favorite room in my home is our bedroom. Although my sister, brother, and I share the bedroom, we get to relax in the navy blue walls and smooth marble like floor. It seems in some way that your high up in the sky floating in the magical room. Along with two closets, two beds, the hanging TV on the walls, and shelves to display our collectibles or my sister’s makeup. Another reason why our bedroom is my favorite room is because it is also our game room. Our Nintendo Switch is found under our TV and we can connect it to the TV Whenever. Board games are found under our sister’s bed. We enjoy playing a couple games of UNO sometimes. One last reason why our bedroom is my favorite room is because it can be used to hide goodies. We can grab snacks and hide them under our pillows or backpacks so our parents don’t notice. We do this all the time and haven’t been caught. Even at night.

20% Project, Week 2

For week two of the 20% project, I watched a one hour video to teach me the basics of Python. I learned how to use “if” statements and arithmetic operators. Half of the video was a refresher of printing words, numbers, and understanding and writing strings. This week I had a small struggle, I didn’t really understand what the video was showing me. But after a couple of attempts I learned how to use the “false” and “true” statement. Adjustments I need to make is probably bringing my Chromebook or my sister’s Mac if she lets me. I also have to keep myself focused on the video and learning more things rather than talking and showing my friends my work. Next Friday I will watch the remaining half of the video and then I will find another video. Right after finishing around four videos of showing me the basics of Python and more advanced features, I will start creating some kind of game.

Rad Reading – April

This month I read a book called I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak. The book is about an underage cab driver with no such future, a pathetic card player, who is madly in love with his best friend, and is very fond over his coffee drinking dog. The Doorman. His life is the usual routine and inadequate. Until Ed Kennedy stops a bank robbery. That’s when he gets his first ace in his mail.

This book was really good as Ed went through many different places and met many different people. He taught he was useless and pathetic but as he met these people it became clear to the reader and Ed that one doesn’t need to be famous, rich, or achieve the wildest of dreams to cause change in the world. But to be a human. It also came with good laughs and grip worthy chapters.

My favorite character from the book is Ed. Ed can be pitiful but can sure show bravery throughout the book. Like facing strong people, terrifying ones, heck even facing a large group of teenage boys. One quote to prove this is, “‘That bastard put shame in my family.” “So did your daughter” I can’t believe the words I’m hearing from my own mouth. “You better get moving, boy, or you two’ll go home like twins.’”

My favorite quote from the book is, ““Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are.” This shows that it doesn’t matter what people look like from the inside. What matters is how the way they are and how they treat others with kindness. That is the beauty inside all of us.

Sweet Smoky Salty Spicy Delight

The thought of my favorite food makes my mouth water. The sweet, spicy, and smoky mixture on top of the chicken as if a volcano erupted sauce. The white as milk rice, salty and tasteful. The sauce pouring down on the rice changing its color to dark red. Fresh cheese to complement the sauce with creamy, salty, and sometimes tangy flavor. The flavors of this dish is just indescribable when it comes to the cheese. And once you add the rice, mole covered chicken, and a slice of cheese to a tortilla. The sauce falls down like a waterfall making you to almost stop it from falling with your mouth. Once the taco makes contact with your tongue, the flavors almost pop your taste buds because of how good mole is.

20% Project, Week 1

Hello my name is Kevin, for my 20% project I chose to learn Python. I got three courses available in the Programiz website. I learned how to print words, numbers, write down strings, basic python coding. Today there were no struggles as of now. Adjustments I need to do is watch videos since the website only allowed me to do a three units. After that I have to pay fifteen dollars a month which is a bummer, so now I have to watch videos at school then practice in my Chromebook at home. Next Friday I have to watch videos where they show you the basics of python so that I can create drawings or a simple game. My goal for now since is to learn the basics of Python. I was going to do a calculator out of C++, but it was not fun as I thought it would be. If I feel confident enough and memorized lots of code then I will possibly make a ping pong game.

Family Reunion

If I could invite three people to dinner they would be my mom, dad, and sister. I would invite my mom because I would like her to have a nice dinner with me and the rest of my family (except for my brother because I have chosen three people already) and give her a break of having to clean and wash clothes everyday. I would also invite my dad because he spends his time working his hardest outside in bright sunny days. It would be a nice and relaxing day for him so that he can recover his energy. And I would also invite my sister because she is always supporting us and encouraging us to be better. She also buys us many gifts and takes us out to eat so I would like to repay her. For dinner we would have pozole with some crunchy tostadas. We would also drink some high quality lemonade that I can make. For dessert we would a nice cup of ice cream with a cherry on top.

Rad Reading – March

This month I read a book called Gleanings by Neal Shusterman. There are countless of stories that must be told of the Scythedom. Centuries passed ever since the Thunderhead supported and kept humanity running smoothly. And Scythe Goddard making several countries his puppets to fulfill him power. Same characters and New foes, heroes, and some in between will have their stories unraveled. In the book you’ll find out just how terrifying the world of the series, Scythe can be.

I really liked the book just like the rest of them. The stories that are told give you hidden details and background information. The stories included Scythe Godard’s childhood life, A story of a dog with the mind of a human hunting down a scythe (Which I thought was hilarious until you find out what the scythe did to the dog), the truth of Scythe Curie and the relationship she had with Scythe Faraday, and many more stories. Although some of the stories were kind of boring the book was equally as good as the other books.

My favorite character from the book is kila. Because although she is an unsavory which means to abide by the Thunderheads law, she still shows signs of sympathy. I can prove it with this quote, “What are you still doing here?” he snapped “Your session is over. Hurry along.” “I … I just … Are you okay?” This proves that even if she abides by rules and causes havoc she can still have sympathy for others.

My favorite quote from the book is, “Because it is easier to believe that scythes aren’t real, and that I am a liar, and that the moon is made of cheese, than it is to admit that everything you believe about the world is wrong.” (Pg 102) This is my favorite quote from the book because it is in fact better to not believe something than to be afraid of it. Such as imaginary monsters from your childhood that you still remember.

Code Monkey

A computer programmer is a perfect job for me. Being a computer programmer is one of my passions. I would love to be a computer programmer because I’ll will be able to create a wide variety of different applications, write, modify, and test code and scripts to ensure that they are functioning correctly. Who knows I can even make my own game. Another reason why I would like to be a computer programmer is to help the devs behind many of my favorite games: Supercell. My favorite game from them is Brawl Stars as you might know. I would like to help them with there new games that are under development, help them with other games that they have released, or help them come up with a new idea for a game. The last reason why I would like to become a computer programmer is because its like having a superpower. Being able to know what specific lines of codes do and being able to program anything to shape would overall be fun and challenging at the same time. Bugs can occur in your code or something might not go the way you intended it to be. Computer primming is not easy. You will have to know how to problem solve and communicate with others while also having fun. That’s why I’m willing to take on the challenges of being a computer programmer so that it shapes me into a more confident person.

Rad Reading – February

This month I read a book called The Toll by Neal Shusterman. The third book of The Arc of a Scythe. Citra and Rowan along with many other scythes have fallen along with Endura. Nothing stands between Goddard and his domination over the world. The Thunderhead has fallen silent. What else can go wrong? In order to make the world the a better place, the answer lies the between the chosen ones.

The book just like the 1st and 2nd have just been mind blowing. In the beginning your set with Greyson. Once you progress perspectives change to Greyson, Citra, Rowan, and many different Scythes. You think that everything is alright and things will go the way they were supposed to but things take sudden turns. Which makes the book amusing just like the rest and hard to guess what happens next.

My favorite character for this book has changed to Munira. She can be a wise and kind. But sometimes have some jealousy inside her. She can also be calm in situations where destruction happens. One quote to prove that she is wise is, ‘“We are imperfect beings,” Munira said. “How could we ever fit in a perfect world?”

My favorite quote from The Toll is, ‘“We are imperfect beings,” Munira said. “How could we ever fit in a perfect world?”’ This is my favorite quote because no matter how much we try to make the world perfect, we will never be satisfied.
